Minot, Maine - Homesteads Then & Now

Road by road we travel through Minot taking pictures of any of the older homes. The people of Minot were most helpful in contributing old pictures of their houses for us to use. This book shows the current owner and location, also previous owner if known and other information that we were able to put together.

A section on Minot's three Grange Halls (West Minot, Minot Center and Minot Corner). Churches of Minot (Minot Corner Methodist, Minot Center Congregational and West Minot Union).

Another section covers the ten School Districts of the town, nine of them having one room school houses. End of an era in 1953 when these one room schools were closed and Minot open their new Consolidated School.

In 1790 Bakerstown Plantation, in 1795 the toal area is called Poland, 1802 Poland is divided creating the Town of Minot. Everything on the left of the Androscoggin River is now Poland and everthing to the right of the river is Minot. In 1842 Auburn was created out of Minot and in 1893 part of Mechanic Falls was removed from Minot, leaving Minot as it is today.
