On a plateau over looking the town of West Minot was located a series of buildings, which was now the closed corn shop, contained a grain mill and a packing plant, owned and operated by the Portland Packing Co. of which another West Minot prominent citizen, J. Merrill Hatch was Superintendent. This was later closed and bought out by Withingtons which manufactured Skis, Toboggans, Bobsleds, Dog Sleds, Archery Sets, Crossbows and more. The owner and president of Withington was Wayne O. Stevens Withington Manufactoring burned 1970's. | |
The old Stearns and Whittemore Grain and Feed Store was located near the railroad tracks at West Minot. Many years ago Henry Stearns of Hebron Academy and Samuel Whittemore of West Minot owned and operated both wholesale and retail. The grain and feed store where farmers and people of the surrounding rural communities came to purchase flour, grain and feed. At that time there were three railroad tracks between the railroad station and the grain mill. The railroad tracks were removed in the early 1950's. | |

Burnham and Morrell Canning Plant at Minot Corner. The canning plant was built around 1885 and was in operation until 1918. It's location was on the easterly side of the Little Androscoggin River below the falls at Minot Corner. Between the river and the Minot Corner Church. | |
